| More often than not to find public displays of emotion in today’s society one has to attend events and contrived holidays which serve as release mechanisms for anxieties, pent-up emotions, and suppressed cathartic desires. Marginalized and disenfranchised groups who find it hard if not impossible to interact openly because of their belief systems or lifestyles must find other ways to display their solidarity and belief in themselves and each other. Unfortunately this sometimes manifests as anger and confrontation. | |
This series explores a more positive form of personal self-expression. These images are from various celebrations from around the USA. This series is of individuals in public, openly displaying emotions about and for one another. These images focus on flamboyant and sometimes erotic public release of thoughts and feelings polite society sometimes marginalzes, setting the stage for a deeper consideration of ourselves, our culture and our deepest needs and desires.
