Hands-On Adobe Photoshop CS5 Classes |
Adobe Photoshop CS5 Class 1 This 4-night course covers the basics of setting up Bridge (a part of Photoshop) and acquiring good work habits. | Bird Point Alaska's Winter Coastal Landscape Turnagain Arm ![]() |
Bird Point Hal Gage leads a two-day winter landscape photography workshop in the heart of Turnagain Arm, Alaska. Known worldwide for its scenic beauty, one of the most unique locations on the Turnagain Arm is a little coastal estuary known as Bird Point. Hal Gage has been photographing there for nearly three decades. Join Hal Gage for a two-day workshop at Bird Point—30 miles south of Anchorage. Participants will explore the ice-covered tidal flats, sea ice formations and, glacial carved rocks of this very unique area. Topics covered: composition, conceptualizing an image, exposure, equipment usage, and practical considerations of working on the tidal flats. All levels are welcome working in digital or film. Because this is a tidal-dependent workshop (low tide is at about 3:30pm), workshop runs from 12 noon to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday. Dress warm with sturdy snow boots and pants. Bring your camera with extra (fully charged!!) batteries, wide-angle and telephoto lenses, a tripod, and 100 to 400 ISO film, or enough digital media for 100 frames. Denali Hwy Fall Colors Along Alaska's Old Rustic Wilderness Road |
Denali Highway (from Paxson to Cantwell) People have been asking for this workshop for several years. Last year was the first, and what a great workshop it was! My favorite time of year on the "highway" is the fall. Late August to early September is usually the peak for the colors. Golds, reds and browns blanket the valleys. Early morning frost on the ripe blueberries and the occasional migrating caribou make great subjects in a landscape set afire with fall colors. We'll travel across the highway staying at two different lodges so we can cover the whole highway over the three days. We'll explore the area's valleys, lakes, and ancient eskers (winding gravel hills) left behind from the receding glaciers. (Keep your fingers crossed for northern lights, too.) Bring your camera gear, tripod, warm clothes and hiking boots and get ready for a great weekend of photography. Three-day workshop fee: $250 (lodging, transportation and meals not included). |
