Bird Point. 1983–1998. This is the my first series. As a child I remember staring out the back window of our car as we made the nearly weekly trip from Anchorage to Sterling where we had a summer fishing cabin on the Kenai River. Each time we rounded the corner and started up the hill at what I later came to know as Bird Point on Turnagain Arm, I longed to wander out there. My dad was a point A to B driver and never stopped unless absolutely necessary. Flash forward 20 years, and I am now just beginning to get serious about photography as an art form and looking for subject matter to explore. Rediscovering Bird Point, I learned to see critically, quietly listen, and createasense of place with my photography.
