Tidal Erratics of the Turnagain Arm, Alaska. The third installment in the Death of Ice series, these images are of the slit laced ice floes that are brought in on the incoming tide from the Gulf of Alaska and left deposited on the broad tidal flats at low tide, only to be lifted on the next tide and replaced with a new set the next cycle. Much like the transient people that come to Alaska, as a group, in large portion leave for various reasons, only to be replaced by the next influx of travelers. As ephemeral objects, I thought to make portraits of these strangers as they come into town before leaving never to be seen again.
